Floods Hit Jakarta and South Tangerang

Heavy and prolonged rain has submerged several areas in Jakarta and South Tangerang (Tangsel). Consequently, this incident occurred on Tuesday night, May 29, 2025.

Flood Conditions in Jakarta

In Jakarta, floods affected the Pluit area, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. Specifically, two Neighborhood Units (RTs) there experienced coastal flooding or rob tides. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta reported that as of 6:00 AM this morning, these two areas remained flooded.

Indeed, as of 6:00 AM, two RTs are still submerged,” said Momammad Yohan, Head of Pusdatin BPBD Jakarta. The water level in the affected area currently ranges from 25 to 50 cm.

Flood Impact in South Tangerang

Meanwhile, South Tangerang faces a more widespread impact. Eleven areas remain flooded due to heavy rain that lasted over four hours on Tuesday night.

Data from the Tangsel BPBD office reveals flood points across several sub-districts and villages. For instance, these include Serpong, Pamulang, Buaran, Rawa Buntu, and Serua Indah, with water levels ranging from 30 to 120 cm.

Submerged streets during Jakarta Tangsel floods

Here are some of the affected locations:

  • Pamulang Asri 2 RW 09, Serua Indah Village: Water level 100 cm. High rainfall caused this. The water is currently receding.
  • Lembah Pinus RW 24, Pamulang Barat Village: Water level 50 cm. High rainfall and overflowing drainage caused this flooding. This area remains submerged.
  • Jalan Musyawarah Al-Barkah RT 04 RW 03, Buaran Village, Serpong District: Water level 50 cm. High rainfall caused this. The water is gradually receding.
  • Rawa Buntu Community Health Center (Puskesmas) Rawa Buntu Village: Water level 40 cm. High rainfall caused this flooding, which has now receded.
  • Permata Pamulang Hospital, Benda Baru Village, Pamulang District: Water level 50 cm. High rainfall caused this; the area remains inundated.
  • Pamulang Permai Blok N RW 06, Pamulang Barat: Water level 70 cm. This area remains submerged.
  • Serpong Lagoon Keranggan Housing: Water level 50 cm. The water here is gradually receding.
  • Puri Bintaro Indah RW 12, Jombang Village, Ciputat District: Water level reached 90-120 cm.
  • Pondok Maharta Housing RW 09-RW 10, Pondok Kacang Timur Village: Water level 50-80 cm. Heavy rain caused the flooding, which persists.
  • Jalan Setia Budi Kp. Bulak, Pondok Kacang Village: Water level 20-30 cm. Heavy rain caused the flooding, and it is still ongoing.
